This short photo essay tells the story of 16 year old Candelario, who was left behind in Honduras following Hurricane Mitch in 1998, as a four year old. His grandmother cared for him, but then died unexpectedly. His 89 year old grandfather, also named Candelario, could not care for him. As a nine year old, Candelario made an unbelievable journey to the United States, where he lives today. He is one of the many immigrants who find them selves working hard to be good citizens, his GPA is 3.9, but is lost in our culture which opened its arms to so many in the past. The Dream Act would help great kids like Candelario!
