Fair trade -- for American workers and the poor in other countries is vital -- that or war -- but bigger than corporate class war is financial class war. Check Michael-Hudson dotorg, say no to Pinochet/CIA fascist economics in the USA and globally. No to bloodbaths, no to enforced poverty.
Democrats can win with this issue. Populism is deeply ingrained in the psyches of rural Americans. Embracing Christianity might not be such a bad idea either. It worked for Jimmy Carter in 1976.
Yeah, free trade is sooo bad. We need to stop trading with THE SUN. Thanks to the Sun's cheap light imports, half of our light bulb manufacturers are out of work.
Yes neo, unfortunately African farmers don't get to vote in US elections and don't contribute to your politician's campaign funds. What you need is a President with the vision to see that if you sell Africa less subsidised cotton you might in the future be able to sell them more computers. The same can be said of Europe by the way.
John Nichols is an excellent writer, I like his approach and educated stance at reporting the truth.

I second that Tony! Globalization/neo-colonialism harms the Third World and benifits the U.$. labour-aristocracy
