On 1/10/2010 Chennai woke up early and headed not to the Kapali temple but to the Kasi temple where Lord Sivaji Rao Gaikwad, also called Rajinikanth was consecrated as the presiding deity, a super god as it were, giving his darshan to millions of fans on 2,000 screens worldwide. What explains the phenomenon of a 60-year-old man who is not caught in that image trap, getting more applause than even a former Miss World? What explains the unprecedented public adulation which almost has no parallels across the country? What explains the mass hysteria and the mania that is always associated with a Rajinikanth release? What explains the phenomenal rise of a humble bus conductor to one of India's or perhaps Asia's highest paid actor? Usually Rajinikanth lets his movies do the talking and his fans do the screaming and he's quite content do the vanishing act before the release of his films, retreat away in the Himalayas. But this time around it was not the same old story because R went into a television studio to promote his film. He went all the way to Malaysia for the audio launch and even travelled all the way to Mumbai for a special screening, and called Bal Thackeray- God. Things have changed. Rajinikanth phenomenon- Is it star power or marketing muscle?

  • Hi buddy,Don't try to pull out from the image of Super star Rajini,..if u make international convention, and speech conference about rajini, regarding he is a business motive person, he was not a muscle actor,..lik many topics,..u can't touch him,.bcoz he was on peak,.and don't try to pull down from the peak,.u can pull down from the position,..but you can't pull down from our Heart...!! becoz he was already Insert in our ALLHEARTS,..so don't try to spoil our Kind Heart,......!!!!!!!!

  • NDTV - If Gyani & Sudhangan(the unrecognized politicians (??!), journalists claim that its marketing muscle, can we invest the same amount of marketing muscle on them both? What would happen? Things would miserably fail. Its nothing but sheer cyinicism. We cant do anything more than conducting a debate, making them a part of it and showing the public that there are "Journalists" like Gyani & Sudhangan. Hardluck to them!
