Spider-Man is a 2002 American superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. The first installment in the Spider-Man series, the film, directed by Sam Raimi and written by David Koepp, stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, and Willem Dafoe.

The film begins with Peter Parker, a high school student, being bitten by a genetically altered spider. After misusing his newly-given abilities, which indirectly causes the death of his Uncle Ben, he becomes the heroic Spider-Man. Peter hopes to win the heart of Mary Jane Watson, the girl he has loved since he was a boy. Meanwhile, he must battle the villainous Green Goblin, the alter ego of the father of his best friend, Harry Osborn.

After being stuck in development hell for nearly 25 years, the film was released on May 3, 2002, by Columbia Pictures, to excellent reviews and a record-breaking opening weekend. With $821.71 million worldwide, it was 2002's third-highest-grossing film and is the 20th-highest-grossing film of all time. Spider-Man was, for its time, the most successful film based on a comic book. The film's success has led to two sequels, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man 3, like Spider-Man, would set a new record for opening-weekend gross.

  • GREAT SONG :D

  • @AshArcherMusic

    Yes, I agree. Enjoy it!

  • I loved this film but I don't like this song

  • @friendofsgran

    Everyone to its own tastes.

  • Since they are changing the star for Spider-Man, i think they should rename the movie to Ultimate Spider-Man. Just like the ultimate universe in the comics and video game where Peter Parker is different than the original and all the villains are "suped up", since the Peter Parker is different they should rename it to Ultimate Spider-Man.

You have a facility to discuss movies that I think can be a film critic. I have understood that it would be good to change the name of the saga of Spider-Man for The Ultimate Spider-Man, I also think that Amazing Spiderman, The Ultimate Spiderman and The Spider-Man Movies are versions that can coexist; even the Saga starring by Tobey Maguire could be continued.

  • actually this song is okay but I don't like Nickelback's music

  • I think Spider-Man is the greatest superhero of all time. He may not be the Strongest or Fastest by his will to ensure that everyone he comes across who needs help is aided to, is what I love about him. With all his limitations, as a superhero, his drive is what makes him the greatest. Take example the bridge scene with the kids and M.J. He decided no matter what he was going to help them both even with Goblin at his throat. Which is what heroes are made of. This is why he is the face of Marvel.

  • @ultraflippy09 i here u bro. just turned 18 and i feel like i turned 38 it feels so long since i seen SM in theaters after convincing my mom to let me yet i remember it like it was yesterday some of the scenes scared me lol, but still loved it and still do, now dey comin out wit a reboot (too soon btw)and it makes me feel dat much older.

  • @Spiderman7th It'll be those two tall brownish rectangles in the far background, that hopefully you will see about a second after the camera passes the Chrysler Building.
