The annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, will begin on Tuesday.
Many CPPCC members have already arrived in Beijing, bringing with them their proposals on the country's development. Yuan Xiaoyuan takes a look at some of the suggestions and concerns the CPPCC members have brought to the capital.

With their proposals and missions, groups of CPPCC members are arriving in Beijing. Over the next 10 days, they will bring their regional or industrial concerns and suggestions to the annual session.

Chi Baorong, CPPCC member from Jilin province, said, "I'm a medical worker, and I'm particularly interested in topics concerning medical and educational development."
Baiyin Mende, CPPCC member from Jilin province, said, "I will suggest that more efforts should be put into the cultural and educational development in the pastureland."

But this year's meeting will have a particular focus on the economy, as the country is trying to fend off the effects of the global economic downturn. Many advisors have already raised questions for discussion.

He Baoxiang, CPPCC member from Jilin province, said, "What I'm most concerned about is how to maintain China's economic growth in the face of pressure from the global financial crisis."

Others have been working hard to get answers. Some CPPCC members arrived in Beijing many days ahead of time to prepare their proposals .

CPPCC member Chen Xiaoying said, "I have made a motion with lots of statistics, which need to be completed with the help of some economists."

Also topping the agenda will be some recent social problems, such as food safety and the milk scandal. Discussions among advisors from Inner Mongolia have already begun before the meeting officially gets underway.

Shana CPPCC member from Inner Mongolia, said, "We need to set up a foolproof system to supervise the source of milk products, and provide safe milk for people."

Advisors from religious, economic and social fields also reached Beijing on Sunday. Over two thousand members are expected to join the CPPCC session, which kicks off on March 3rd.
