AUDIOJUMBLE

A self-produced documentary taking us inside a British enthusiast 'fair' that specialises in vintage audio - hi-fi equipment, wireless sets, record-players and tape-recorders. I speak to some of the characters that make it all possible, and make some interesting finds. I have also covered, as a technology journalist, this particular Audiojumble (October 10th - Angel Leisure Centre, Tonbridge, Kent) for a forthcoming edition of Hi-Fi Choice magazine. This doc will also be available on PAL/NTSC DVD (e-mail tech_ed at blueyonder.co.uk for more details). The picture and sound quality will be considerably better than what YouTube can (albeit generously!) offer.

Many thanks to all those who made it possible - including John Howes, Paul Messenger, Barry Jones, Adrian Caspersz, Mike Blackmore (NAG-Fi Hi-Fi Club) and Hughie Day (Emporium Hi-Hi). This film is dedicated to the global community of musicians, music lovers and audiophiles!

I'm an experienced film-maker who's happy to consider new commissions and collaborative work (e-mail above). Look out for more films in time. Something on bikes (the self-propelled variety) and the people who ride them can be expected before too long...

  • A couple of corrections - these will be implemented on the DVD version:

    1. When Barry Jones talks about the BK.411, we show an image of the Brush BK.401 - an entirely different beast. To be fair, Brush recorders of any kind are rare nowadays and we were lucky to spot this example when 'doing the rounds'.

    2. In the end credits, we wrongly dedicate 'special thanks' to long-dead entertainer Hughie Green - instead of the Hughie Day featured in the film! Many apologies to him. Twas a long night...

  • The top of the video has, for some reason, been cropped off - the DVD doesn't have this problem. Just so you know...

  • I will be happy to see more videos from events like this, as we do not have anything on this scale in Denmark and I am not able to bring back anything on a plane if I went myself, which would be too sad - being there in person not being able to bring anything home with me. Except perhaps a head shell or something.

  • Very nice Video.

It's nice to see Hughie Day appearing in the video.

I've bought from Hughie with good success. Good bloke to deal with.

    Regards.

  • Martin - congratulations on this video - its very slick!

I hope one day to visit a Audio Jumble. Thanks - Steve Spicer

  • Great work Martin, I think I'll be going again soon.

  • Nice job Martin. Daresay there are legions of women looking at this thinking 'what's wrong with these old guys?' but very worthy all the same.
