The Barhums and the Zahalkas are two neighboring families in a building in the Jewish French Hill neighborhood in Jerusalem. Yossi Barhum votes for the Right because "one doesn't betray one's mother or political party". The Zahalkas are an Arab family, originally from northern Israel. Against all odds, the two families enjoy friendly and warm relations.
Israel encompasses a fusion of versatile cultures and colors. Being a "French Hill", Jerusalem resident, where the film "Neighbors" takes place, Yaron Daffan brings this array of colors into the musical score specifically composed for the short documentary. The music brings into the lime light Western instruments such as the Guitar and concert Flute as well as Arabic instrumentation such as the Darbuka.
Yaron Daffan, Film composer, has been successfully composing in number of musical styles such as Jazz, Orchestral, Ethnic and Electronic. Studied music at Rimon School of Music, Israel and the Victorian College of the Arts, Australia.
