March 2, 2010- Governor Mitch Daniels honored civic leader and legendary baseball player Carl D. Erskine of Anderson with the 2010 Sachem Award, the states highest honor. The award recognizes an individual or individuals for a lifetime of excellence and virtue that has brought credit and honor to Indiana. John Wooden, the Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh, Jane Blaffer Owen, Bill and Gloria Gaither, and Danny Danielson are the previous recipients.
I'll never get over how much Governor Daniels reminds me of my favorite president, Calvin Coolidge.
