A walk through the lobby and house of the Oaks Theatre in Olivet, MI, on the night of our first full dress rehearsal for Lysistrata. The set is not 100% completed, but it is close. The theatre department is closing next year, the major and minor programmes suspended, and our facility being placed under new, undetermined management.

  • It is really now just a music program pretending to be a performing arts program. REVIEWS ARE NOT MUSICALS! Stealing from famous musicals and putting them together does not make it a musical. Also having no longer a tech theater program as i was the last one to graduate stealing my previous set peices and pretending you designed them is also called stealing! This temple by the way was designed by me and mostly built by me and the true director of the OC theater program who knows what theatre is

  • @jaz11786 Oh, I remember the build of that temple- that was one hell of a year- the set for Wanda June was impressive, too, and I love the revolving Narnia doors.

I heard they threw out a good lot of the costume stock, too- it's a shit shame, because some of the old stuff up there was spectacular and just needed some TLC- some of the vintage was actually somewhat hard-to-find, too. I'd have given an arm to raid the stash of what they got rid of for my own collection.

    Love and miss ya.

  • The department has now merged with the music department and is now the Performing Arts Department. This is headed by Dr. Timothy Flynn.

I personally don't know Louise Tuski, but I know a lot of people who do.

  • Thanks for showing this. It's in much better now than it was back in the '60's when we actually had classes(lectures) in the theater because the school didn't have classrooms large enough for required freshman classes.

  • do u know louise tuski

  • I was in the Theatre program at Olivet from '85 to '89 and I can honestly ssay it was the best four years of my life. Sad to hear the department is closing down. Louise Tuski was a great director. Thank you for sharing this.
