The fourth stage certainly can't be considered a slouch as it will traverse the High Divide of the Alps in the spectacular Hohe Tauern Range. Other peculiarities of this stage are the border crossing from Austria to Italy at pass elevation and the fact that the stage leads through the crown jewel of Austria's National Park system. Tomorrow's stage beckons with a serious climb from a valley elevation of 877 meters to almost 2,699 meters -- interrupted only by a gently rising ten-kilometer stretch. Racers will be happy to reach the highest elevation not just for the stellar panoramic views towards the south but because it'll all be downhill from there to Prettau in the Italian Ahrn Valley. The stage tallies no less than 46,22 kilometers -- once again exceeding marathon distance.
