The old man with his old wife made a good point and it was kinda of rude to keep insisting that they follow the western tradition of buying flowers and whatnot for their loved ones. there may be a really good reason why people might choose not to follow certain traditions especially ones steeped in consumerism especially when they may be very poor. Consumerism may fetishize and make routine what should be spontaneous, genuine and particular.

The one thing to prove that is the feathers on the head of the magpies are much lesser after the Chinese Valentine's Day.Magpies are deemed to be auspicious birds in China traditional culture. Anyway, It is just a beautiful folk story. In the past, it is a day only for girls to pray for a happy marriage, but I dont know from when it becomes a day for both of lovers (boys and girls, couples).

I don`t like Beijing on the way to a big modern city. I miss Beijing 10 years ago,there were not a lot of people.I like the old house, the most of them are already destroyed for modern house ,or they build some fake" old house". Beijing was very clear and quiet.We lived a very simple and peaceful life.just sad

@ukmale164 You know I expressed quite mild. For me a fact that my nation also turning into money hungry beasts and prostitiutes are sad. But you know, I'm sure in the future, my nation wouldn't be same as Negros and Arabs.At least I hope. We need not only in the China or East Asia but throughout the world some cleaning.speacially in the Arabic world.
