Genuine Love Must HATE- John Piper

It's the reason why true followers of Christ are willing to be scorned for taking a stand against sin and false teachings. We do it because we love people. "You cannot be a wishy washy, lovey dove...

God is genuine love, bible tells US to love God and other people AND to be SLOW to hate. Our love is different from God's, it's not perfect, he is THE LOVE and real love hates sin. There is so called Holy Hate, hate for sin and that's God's hate. I disagree with this guy but I understand his point: real love is much more than roses.

I hate the time I have wasted waiting for God to reveal himself to me.

To finish - I don't think being in torment forever will guide or teach you much, except perhaps to reconsider God. Also, if christianity happened to be the reconsidered metaphysical belief, there isn't a second chance after hell. it is, you could say, the end of the line. Believe me, I understand that sounds harsh, but I am firmly convicted that my God is patient, and continues to tarry for those that don't know Him.

Well, i have to throw this out there =). I believe that hell is a place reserved for people who lived in denial of God, or lived against Him. It's a place, where they finally get what they wanted: independence/separation from God. It's not a pretty place, no doubt. It's full of pain and horrible sadness. But if God is goodness and light, then separation from God will not be very comfortable. rather, it's dark and painful.

Yes, GOD loves sinners and yet still hates sin. He doesn't want anyone to perish. It isn't sin that defines who you are, but who you are in Christ that defines you.

I believe that is not hate, that is justice. God love you and will punish, teach and guide you when you commit sin.

Ok hold on. What about Gehenna (Hell)? What does getting tormented forever teach me and how does it guide me? Obviously if I find myself in Hell I will assume that one of the Abrahamic religions was true and I had an incorrect metaphysical belief system, but after that, how does torture draw me towards moral rectitude?

How can punishment edify unless it ends? Unending punishment seems more like pointless vengeance to me.

Gnostic Agnostic, if you are truly seeking an answer to your question, I recommend you read The Great Divorce by CS Lewis
