Hong Kong is slowly but steadily loosing itself. Some kids here can't even hold a pair of chopsticks, let alone speak Chinese!

Culture? What culture?

  • Maybe you meant Chinese culture and customs. With globalization, outside influence will affect China. However, Chinese culture, language and arts have also influenced other counties too.

  • True, but I just find it shocking when Chinese kids don't know how to use chopsticks.

  • Let me guess, this is Discovery Bay?

  • nope! haha kinda hard to guess

  • In my country, having this same problem. Many of the youth speak Russian and English, but hardly any Ukrainian.

McDonald's and MTV have replaced traditional family meals and big parties. These kids say that they are being "freed and are becoming more". Becoming what? Western? Smarter? No. They are losing themselves in a downward spiral that does not lead to enlightenment, but rather stupidity.

I see it everywhere. When there is multi-culturalism, there is RUIN.

  • Diuuu! People in Hong Kong are getting too used to westernn cultureee laaa

Hahahah the kid in prep hahahaa

  • ~~Im learning chinese and later how to use chopsticks~~

  • that's true. I see and know a lot of Chinese kids in Canada that don't really know much about their culture. But fortunately, the growing presence of China in the world has helped promote and revived interest in the culture here.

  • Culture loss?

I disagree with the whole HK culture loss. HK is supposed to be a multicultural society anyway, being a port between Asia and Western societies. So it's not surprising as the trends and influences have shaped HK culture throughout history. Besides, HK culture is too specific and constantly changing.

  • Nice!

  • Culture loss, is directly linked to where you are located. It doesn't matter where you were born. Culture is going to happen.

  • so I guess it is not mid-level then.

    Stanley, HK Island?
