My chihuahuas are so crazy! I apologize for taking so damn long to post another video! Lots going on :) Ordered all kinds of goodies!! and I was hoping to just post a fine edited video at the end... but my damn editing program is being crazy.

I got the bike wheels, some of the frame and some of the pipe for free. My main cost was some frame pieces and nuts and bolts. I also got great deals online for a few generators to try, bike chains, and pulleys to play with :)

I have the perfect telephone pole in my back yard that I'm dieing to slap the turbine up on!! I'm certain you'll see that video soon.

Currently it starts up in about 3-5 mph winds and was clocked at 700rpm in 9mph winds with gust of 12mph; and of course this is just free spinning at the moment.

  • technically thats horizontal o.o

  • @henhen7890 haha! it will be high on a telephone pole in the back yard andvertical one of these days... I kinda got snagged working on some other cools stuff!

  • If you were to stand this up it would probably require a central axle yes?

  • Yea, i had planed to use all-thread through it connecting to the wheels, but the threads are different, and i'm having trouble finding the right all-thread. Do you have any other ideas on how to link the wheels to turn together? the turbine wants to twist up a bit.

  • May I make a suggestion ?

Stand it up. I built the same thing but much larger with a 6' width and stood it verticle. My problem is where I'm at the wind keeps tearing up my blades. I'm trying to save the money for figerglass.

You'll find your very limited with the horizontal wind . When verticle it doesn't matter what direction the wind is comming from.

I too used bicycle bearing and so far so good :)

I like your work :) Very Clean, AWESOME :)

  • Hey There Wulf! You are very right! I have a telephone pole out back that i'm just dieing to put it up on. I resently bought a house and have been busy as fuk for that last few months. I'll post a video of it up some day. I'd love to see videos or pictures of your turbine!

  • Horizontal, not vertical.

  • did you remove the spokes and run them through the blades and then replace them in the rims ?

  • Horizontal, you just lost all credibility.

  • Some how you must mount it thirty feet high to catch some real wind. Maybe on your roof at the peak where the wind sheers.

  • put a belt on one bycycle rim and run it to a genorator

  • You could mount along the apex of your roof in the horizontal position.

  • hawt!!!!!!!

  • PUT IT ON A PICK UP TRUCK

    FOR A SUPER HYBRID

  • You got rats in your yard haha

  • Make room for two belts that drive two motors. Double power! (all the way!)
