AMERICAN FORCES IN IRAQ GET HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM SPACE

The two NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station shared holiday greetings and talked about life in space with U.S. service members in Iraq during a live video conference Dec. 29, 2009.

Station Commander Jeff Williams, a retired U.S. Army colonel, and Flight Engineer T.J. Creamer, an Army colonel, spoke with U.S. forces in Baghdad while orbiting 220 miles above Earth about life on the station, their military careers and what it is like to live in space for up to six months.

It was a nice event to watch on NASA TV life this afternoon (for me), and I was really sorry for everyone involved that the audio connection was so difficult.

This is a whole lot better.

Much respect for those soldiers abroad, keep up the good, but difficult work.

It was live. I am one of the soldiers who was there. The audio was fixed about five minutes into the exchange. The video was edited soemwhat to get rid of the delay in communications. There was about a 5 second delay in the time it took for our questions to get to them.

Our questions were not pre-screened, so they could not have possibly known what we going to ask. :)
