I've been self-employed since 1992. In 1993 an accounting firm did my takes for $40. I let them do my taxes until 2005. They were charging me over $200 by that time! I found someone else to do them for $40. He did a GREAT job, but the following year I couldn't find him on the phone or at his office. I did the taxes myself with all kinds of mistakes. The feds got back to me and I only owed them $30 more than I figured. Two years later, I'm done in four hours for free, except for the beers...

I think someone really pulled one over on you. I went to H&R this year and even with Rapid Refund I only paid them $175

You know what is the WORST thing--you have to pay the damn taxes, then, even with a doctorate, you can't figure out how to do your own and have to PAY some ----- to do them for you and then you get to pay some more WTF! Where are my taxes going??? I'm sooooo depressssseeeeddddd~~~~~~~~~~
