1 wise lesson....: DONT THE **** POKE ANIMALS GOD DAMNIT!
-
They rarely bite, but are more likely flail of hairs on the backs of their body which irritate the skin and eyes. As to the strength of their venom, some taratulas are no worse than a bee sting, and there has never been a recorded death through tarantula bite.

Yeah, I get a bit scared too, when I poke my Chromatopelma while she's sleeping. I poke her to get her to take a walk to her container, but when she's sleeping, she thinks it's a bug to eat, so she she gets faster than a bullet! Then she's usually a bit grumpy afterwards... though she does what I want her to. :)

He was not poking it. He juse put the tongs by the hairs. This is a good example to show how a tarantula knows how to hunt and to know when danger is around.
He is about 7" now, and is going to molt again in the next month. He basically eats a ton in a month and gets nice and plump. Then he walls off his little hide and stays in there for two months and doesn't eat or come out at all. Then he molts and comes out really hungry and the cycle happens again. LOL
I'm not scarred of him anymore, but he still surprises me with how fast and mean he can get.
