When he sings:
"I'm bound to leave this dark behind" on the Live at the Old Quarter
LP you can hear him humming. It struck me that the whole song was
as if a parent were singing to a child, and I would imagine that's the tenderness
he felt towards Rex coming through.

well said, this song did indeed grab my attention. it took a bit of searching. well worth it though. they dont write songs like this anymore.
