Take out the damn wire that goes into the smoke detector. But jesus christ I would end up taking a 12 gauge to that.

I had that same smoke alarm back in my old apartment in 2002.

This detector is a SmokeGard 907A2. As you can see, it's a 120VAC Hardwired unit. I had one in my first smoke alarm collection. It's surprising, but alot of alarms in the '70s and '80s were square. (GE 8201-001/101/201/301, this one, SmokeGard's 800A, 800C, 900A, 809A, Master Lock's 3553, the first BRKs, Universal SS-200, Westclox. many others.) Nowadays the only square alarms are Gentex/MasterGuard units and Kidde's Silhouette.
