Proud of my boys Steve Jr. and Nick. Notice the skill in handling the gusty wind. They also decided on practicing how to right an overturned cat, in the unlikely event it should capsize. Keep workin on it boys.... Father's Day 2009 at Highland Lake

  • They need to release the main sail before you try to right the hobie . If you don’t you are trying to pick up all that water that the sail has in it and once your hobie is up right it won’t try to take off with the wind

  • Its okay its okay! I got the video.

  • this is noth good boys normaly theres a rope with flashy colors red or yelow or purple u need to grab ith BOTH and u gona die ever cus u dont grab the metal thing in the middle and if it goes wrong one time u geth the floating things on ur head

(sry for my bad neglish im dutch)

  • three things.

Stand on the bow of the hull and the wind will weathervane the boat INTO the wind. When this boat came up it was pointed downwind - NOT good!

Release the main and jib sheets from the cleats

hook the righting line into your trap harness and you can lean WAAYYYY back to bring the boat up.

  • @bowerman939 true. The other day me and my bf flipped out the hobie. he blamed me of course [I'm learning]. But that was the first thing he did, releasing the main sail. I was really afraid it was my first time but we flipped out the hobie back in less than 5 minutes, thanx god for him and his fast response!

  • nice flip, but next time when righting the boat,Stay on the hull

  • bravo! just a suggestion but if you bring a extra piece of rope with a loop at one end you can attach it to the righting lines and hang off that for more leverage. Also a "Jesus Line" which is a 50 foot line attached to the hobie is a good idea. When you capsize throw it out onto the water so if you happen to let go of the hobie and it takes off you can grab onto it and hopefully pull yourself back to the boat

  • That was great!
