Description from JMChladek: There were two 1/72 kits. The one with the etched tiles was from Revell (before the merger) while the smooth one was Monogram's tool. When they merged, the Revell kit went out of production for awhile and Monogram's stayed around until 1999. Revell's came back out in 2001 before finally being retired in 2009. Revell of Germany did reissue the Revell orbiter last year with a GREAT decal sheet. Monogram's full stack was done in 1986, had a limited reissue in 1999 and again this year

  • Strange to miss out that detail. I mean everybody who knows about the Shuttle knows about the tiles. Are you going to build it?

  • @alanstarkie2001 I had started it once. I posted this for someone who might want it.

  • Nice.. :) Now you just need a Boeing 747 'Shuttle Jet' in 1/72 scale to go with it... :) :)

  • @BasicModelling LOL. a 1/72 747 would be immense. I do also have the Tamiya 1/100 shuttle kit and the Doyusha 1/100 747 kit. I could do it with the right decals in 1/100.

  • Cool Model! I think I need to try some other stuff besides just cars. I keep sticking with cars though because I am a car nut lol.

  • @pturley84 Oh sure, there are more than car models, but they are the best. I keep wanting to venture out into the airplane world myself.

  • @VlaXXie Well, not tile by tile. You can mask off big areas and spray. I'm further along with this now. There is an update video that shows some big areas painted.

  • AND SATURN 5 1:72 ???

  • The parts are different, so it's a different tool to make that shuttle from the one I got. But if the tile lines are raised rather than engraved, then that's not so great a situation either. Thanks for breaking this kit out, it's great to see it here!

  • @Toppervision1 That would probably be more managable.. :)
