High quality education includes the latest research and innovative approaches to learning

Innovative activity in NUPh is the development, distributing and using educational, scientific and other innovations at the international, all-Ukrainian levels and on a university scale: lectures, lectures master-class, authors methodical of teaching, using of informational, computer, multimedia, telecommunication, Internet and case- technology, modular technology, personal - oriented, distance-learning, technology of independent work organization and control.

Scientific researches include the whole complex of research scientific work in producing, from the biological molecular synthesis to the adoption in the production. They are held in the scientific educational centre of medicine, clinical diagnostic centre, 9 research scientific labs and scientific units of the departments of University.

Research works in prior direction of science and techniques are held with financing by state budget and economic agreements and also by the University expenses in the frame internal program of science development support. Scientific studies and creations are held for native and foreign enterprises.The University cooperates with 12 institutions of Ukrainian Academy of Science and with more than 20 branch institutions of Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The creation and implementation in practice of new effective drugs is the complex multistage process with the participation of different chairs and scientific labs of NUPh. The scientists of NUPh have created 261 new drugs of the wide spectrum of pharmacological action which are on the different stages of implementation.

22 scientific schools work in the University that conduct studies in the following research fields:
Chemical synthesis and analysis of biological active substances, synthetic origin drugs creation;
Pharmacognostic study of biologically active substances, plant origin drugs creation;
Development of content technology of biologically active substances and natural drugs obtaining;
Technology of original and combined medicines of different dosage forms;
Creation and improvement of content and technology of ex-temporal drugs;
Homeopathic drugs creation;
Development of content and technology of veterinarian substances;
Creation of medicinal cosmetics;
Development of new methods of drug analysis for operative revelation of false products and pharmacy and ready made drugs quality control;
Pharmacological research of biological active substances and drugs of synthetic and natural origin their application in medical practice;
Organization of pharmaceutical business, management and marketing in pharmacy;
Economic mechanism of administration pharmaceutical enterprises development under conditions of international quality standards implementation;
Quality administration in the sphere of creation, manufacturing, turnover of drugs.

Regular scientific training of academic staff is held through postgraduate and doctorate studies in three specialties:
14.03.05 Pharmacology
15.00.01 Technology of drugs and pharmaceutical business organization
15.00.02 Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy

There are two specialized scientific boards.

Nowadays 54 doctoral thesis and 217 Candidates dissertations are being written. In 2008-2009 19 doctoral thesis and 96 Candidates dissertations were defended.

Students scientific society (SSS) of NUPh numbers more than 700 students, who are involved in scientific research work at more than 40 scientific sections

There are more than 1100 protected objects of intellectual property registered. Approximately 200 scientists are engaged in the inventive activity, 2 of them are honored inventors of Ukraine.

The University pays much attention to the scientific information exchange and scientific researches testing. Annually approximately 20 conferences and meetings are held, including international. Scientific achievements are constantly demonstrated at the exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, where they were awarded many times. Creative and scientific contribution of scientists of the University is more than 30 monographs and 490 books.
