Terry Pratchett's TRUCKERS

Truckers is a stop motion animated series, an adaptation the first book of Terry Pratchett's The Bromeliad trilogy, produced in the United Kingdom by Cosgrove Hall for TV, then released on VHS, though edited together into a feature length film. Dreamworks has been rumored to be working on a new feature length adaptation of Truckers, so I urge you to enjoy this piece of television history from 1990.

Starred Paul McGann's lesser known but equally talented brother Joe McGann as Masklin, Brian Trueman (famous for his narration work on Cosgrove Hall's other shows such as Cockleshell Bay and as Stiletto in Danger Mouse) as Dorcas, Debra Gillett (recently appeared on Doctor Who as Rita Connolly in 'The Idiot's Lantern') as Grimma, Rosalie Williams (Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes TV serials from 1984-94) as Gran'ma Morkie and John Jardine as Torrit.

  • Seriously, whats with the start?

Ive always wondered...is there some connection to space???

  • Did you read the books at all? There's a pretty thorough explanation of their space origins, which is touched on in this animation too.

  • Hear, hear Rocky. I remember catching it on CITV as a kid, and then owning the VHS. I'm only now appreciating with retrospect all the quirks and maturity that put current children's television to shame.

  • watching the video of this on my tv i might of just been born between the series 17 march to be exact but i have fond memories of this show :)

  • there's something up for 2013 called "truckers" ..

  • WHY isn't this excellent series on DVD? TT_TT

  • I've had the audiobook for years and years, and this just doesn't sound right without Tony Robinson voicing it.

  • At the time when I first watched this all these years ago, I found some of the more violent scenes surprisingly visceral. But then again most animations from around this era had some pretty confronting scenes.

  • Saw this series years ago when I was a kid and only just got round to getting a copy of The Bromeliad (only just finished Truckers last night), it's surprising just how faithful to the original material the series is, definitely an excellent adaptation.

  • wow I thought i imagined this!! got me into terry pratchet, best interpretation of his stuff!

  • I absolutely loved this when I was younger, had it on vhs
