WARNING: This original 1977 version IS NOT on the Blu-Ray release! Please "Like" our Facebook page "Save Star Wars - Boycott The Blu-Rays". This clip comes from the 2006 Star Wars DVD (non-anamorphic, sourced from 1992 laserdisc master). Notice the lack of the episode number and the "A New Hope" heading (which was added in 1981 for that year's theatrical re-release). Also notice the different formatting of the text: "DEATH STAR" is on one line, unlike the later revised version.

Eventhough the "original" Star Wars trilogy on the 2006 DVD was from the 1993 LaserDisc masters, this particular opening crawl was from the best available 1977 film prints!

I have a review immediately after the release of the film commenting on the striking opening, "chapter IV". So at least in some cinemas there was a number of episode in the opening crawl.

Well since you've uploaded them onto Youtube then there is no need for them to be on Blu-Ray anyway! You've sort of shot yourself in the foot with that one...

UPDATE: Just to let everyone know, it has been confirmed by Lucasfilm that the Original versions of the Star Wars Trilogy will NOT be on the upcoming blu-ray release (this comes from Adam Gregorich, who interviewed LFL representatives for the Home Theater Forum).
