@pytko3 Arcade Fire has actually allowed the NFL to use several of their songs over the last 2 and half years.

Arcade Fire never allow their music to be used in ads. However, this was a ONE-TIME exception that they made because the money was going to go to Haiti.
Other than this, Arcade Fire never allows their music to be used in ads. They also never allow themselves to be sponsored by corporations. They also maintain their publishing rights as well, so other bands/singers can not put their own versions of Arcade Fire's songs on cds or iTunes.
I admire Arcade Fire for holding their music sacred.

@whacksteez Yea fuck football

@ibizzzaaa Arcade Fire donated all the money they received for health care in Haiti after the earthquake... so do you still hope they got fucked over? Give Arcade Fire a little credit and research what their motives might have been before you chastise them...

@ShanksDChopper they did it for charity

Haha. Oh my goodness listen to all these complaints. Arcade Fire and Fox along with a charity group made a deal to play the song during the Super Bowl. All proceeds from the licensing agreement went to
Haiti relief. Calm down people it was for a good cause and personally I liked the way it worked out.

i didnt expect to hear the song in the super bowl... i liked it.

Everything about Fox screams "god, we suck!"
-
Wow, that just ruined the song for me. The way they tied it with the "emotionally striking" clips and effects, so cheesy. I really hope that Arcade Fire got fucked over there by NFL, instead of them consciously selling the song to those multi-billionaire assholes.

The band is not signed to a major label. They are signed to an independent label, Merge Records. The band has control over virtually all of their affairs. They were not paid and they did not give permission for the clip to be used.
