  • I think he still has the synthax, but this isn't it. I think this is his DeLap.

  • Hi Yes, this is a custom Bill DeLap birch top and back guitar. Allan still has one Synthaxe left but doesn't take it on tour anymore. What your hearing is the Roland VG-8 V-Guitar System.

    Cheers

    Charles

  • great as always! when and where was this footage taken?

  • 2005, at B.B.King's bar grill in N.Y.C. I'm glad your enjoying the clip.

  • In fact, he cannot properly play all his old songs. I had the opportunity to talk with him for a while during a workshop in cologne in march. He told me, that he tends to screw up his old tunes, because he cannot remember them completely anymore. Despite of that, I asked him for some bars of Tokyo Dream, so he played the first 15-20 secs and ended with the words "You see, I screwed it up". Of course he did not! It was awesome, but he is just incredibly modest. A great guitarist & person. Thx, AH

  • @22fret , man, this is not true... i mean, he is brutally sincere, the thing is, he only composes 'esqueletons' of musics... he always improvises over some musical structures, of course he doesnt remember what he did on the records, because its usually everything improvised!!!! there is no problem in that, he is just to shy to admit he is incredible, and he doesnt need to recreate everything he did on the records the same way!!! lol

  • @taghl

I thought that it was weird that he has got his own system. but he is propably 100% autodidact as a musician. and he found a system that works for him.

  • @22fret I also had a chance to talk to him and indeed very modest. genius.

  • even though the audio is sort of horrible, still awesome.

  • Probably reading chord changes for the arrangement, probably does not need it Lol

  • Classic tune from good ol' Allan

  • Probably just reading the lead sheets for certain songs. He probably just has the chord progressions written down. At least that's how most ppl do it.

  • He appears to be "reading music" here. I wonder if his own system of notation is on that bookstand..............

Its got to be hard to remember all those songs he has wrote over the years. That man has made a lot of music.

  • Thank you Spirit for getting these clips! I can't get enough. HAIL AH!
