BMW's R1200GS Adventure is the gold standard in adventure touring bikes, but now it's facing down challengers like the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring. Is the road to ruins for the BMW paved by the likes of the Ducati? Before we find out off the pavement, a little protection and preparation is in order. If we had the licensing, we'd cue the A-team montage music and cut to the folks at http://AltRider.com.

Put some k60 heandneu's (spelled way wrong) on the Beemer and it will does trail and road better than you would believe possible! Look up K60 and get the right spelling. $450 a set for the mighty Varadero and worth twice that much.

I'm looking at testing a set of Heidenaus on my KTM 990 Adventure R. The BMW was a review bike and went back to the press fleet after filming.

Rest assured, this isn't my day job. Tough row to hoe making it in the motorcycle industry. We've been toying with putting together a group adventure at some point however.

I've had Haidenaus on my F650GS and lately on my R1150GS. Their main advantage is that they're tough. I've more than 10,000km on them. The TKC80 are WAY better, but wear off in 5,000km or so.

The Karoo's were what BMW provided. I would have preferred the TKCs myself as they provide a much better ride experience on road.

Go to western power sports in langley and talk to Carl, he'll set you up with a good price. I will be there Friday at 9 am getting my new ones put on. I'd be in to a group trip. Good luck setting one up.
