  • Hey there,

I really like this tutorial. You're a great artist!

    I have one question, though.

For these shadings and highlights you're doing, what are your brush settings? I mean as far as hardness/opacity/flow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

  • @runtor1988 Hey Runtor, check the brush settings vid. THanks!

  • Thanks for the comments. I hope you are able to apply these techniques in your own artwork.

  • I swear you must've given me the best advice yet - adding value to a separate layer. Just saved me from a shipload of future trouble.

Thank you so much for making these!

  • Artis, you're welcome. It's a pretty common practice to keep the values on a layer. A lot of Pros use layers in their production art. Like you said, shaves time and future trouble.

  • oh thank you ive been thinking of practicing Concept art...but i cant find any tutorials anywhere THANK YOU

  • This is fantastic, thanks for this video. I was keeping my grayscale painting entirely too dark... like 90-100% Key Black in some places. It was multiplying that value when I tried to glaze the color layers on and it was awful... just randomly super saturated dark areas.

This seems like it's just like a blend of drawing on toned paper and using copic markers. I guess you could use this technique on a full illustration too with backgrounds/tech etc too, same principles!

  • Man, once again, this is ridiculously good but also very helpful. I've got very basic skills with digital painting, and this inspires me to get better, and is also very informative. I know a lot about Photoshop, but not enough, and these are really helping me to rethink how I compose my pieces to be as efficient and effective as possible. It's a blessing that people like you and some others take the time to do these vids... not all of us can afford art school!

  • your voice sounds like you're smiling the whole time xD and your work is AWESOME :O
