  • What's the location of the video?

I'm assuming it's the UK, but, funny enough, it slightly resembles Cairo, NY.

  • Hi, it was all filmed in North Wales, staring in Harlech and moving through Penmaenmawr, via Llanberis, Conwy and ending up at home in Bethesda!

  • P.S. THe bits of cloth catching the wind over the stone wall are lovely, but what are they for?

  • I think they just got caught on the barbed wire - they've gone now anyway! all the best :-) Alan

  • Thanks for posting this music with a great video too. I had a couple of David Ackles LPs which went the journey-lent and never returned. Tried to buy the CDs recently but they were asking between £70 and £90 which if I had the money I would pay for music of this quality.Ii remember listening to thisas a student when everyone else was listening to endlessEeagles album. Its nice to see I'm not alone now in listening to it with 18000 plus hit.

  • Great video and a great song !

  • Great combination of audio and video Al. Well done.

I think the images are right in line with this great song.

Very haunting. Love the last part.

  • 10 year anniversary of my last time in Cairo, Egypt. Things have changed a little.

  • @blinddrunkal

Great work. Saw DA on TV doing Road to Cairo in 1968 at home in Glamorgan, been a devotee ever since. American Gothic my treasured posession along with import copy of Five and Dime,. Great video, mate

    Huw

  • @Spamhero You should feel reckless :)

As far as I can tell it starts on Bb minor with a bassline that descends in half steps to F# and then F7.

It's a device that's used in many, many songs. The Beatles' While My Guitar Gently Weeps comes to mind, Invitation to the Blues by Tom Waits, and even Hit the Road, Jack, which uses a simplified version, as does Stray Cat Strut by the Stray Cats. I am no musicologist, but no doubt it harks all the way back to European classical music.

  • This is the first time I've ever heard his music. It's very good.

  • @PascalObistro It's Michael Fonfara on organ I think
