Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by.

This is a clip from our June 4, 2009 performance at Golden Nugget in Anchorage, Alaska. This was our second gig this year using our new board and cabinets. I have to admit I messed around with the equipment when the guys weren't around and you can almost hear them in the background scratching their heads trying to figure out what I'd done. :o( Also, this was the first gig we recorded with the new xh a1 and we learned that from now on we'll line the board directly into the camera's xlrs. :o)

Anyway, Mark Farner wrote this rock-n-roll classic in 1970 and recorded it with his then band, Grand Funk Railroad. It was released as a single as well as on the Closer To Home album.

We upgraded our board to a Mackie Onyx 1640 with the optional AD card and switched to the new JBL PRX515's featuring onboard Crowns at 1,000 watts peak per cabinet. Everyone has been very flattering about the new sound. When we retired the prior mackie board, we lost some eq and effects so we've added another lexicon and two 31 band eq's. Now it'll be up to the guys to "kick the tires and light the fires". It aint easy to make this old guy sound good. :o)

We've got several gigs on the books and are looking forward to adding some new ones in the near future. I'll post the dates here as time permits.

  • Looks like a 70s Grand Funk fan.

  • LoL, you got me! Funny, I was playing a club around the first of the year and during a break a guy comes screamin' up to me all excited and he says something like "Man, I'm from Michigan and I loved GFR I didn't know anyone outside of Michigan ever heard of them, do you know any other GFR tunes?!!!!!!" I said well....as it happens I sure do! Thanks for watching my vid, Michael T

  • You have a very good voice. mark Farnham is note easy to sing. I sing Footstompin' Music in my band and it took me a while to get the vocals (sep making sure I started on the correct key). GF is great stuff and you were awesome in this video. Good guitar playing as well. Easy 5 stars from me.

  • Hi Nick, as you may know; I always hafta check out the people that review my work before I reply or comment. Geeeez man, you've honored me beyond all reason. Coming from a talent like you, your comment about my stuff was golden. Thanks more than you will ever know. I'm on my way to subsribe to your channel right now. Wishing you well brother, Michael T.

  • It's been a while since visiting your channel.... I really enjoyed this and am in awe that you kept the same vocal level throughout the song... Great job!!! jackie

  • Jackie, I wrote this reply and when I came back it was gone. Anyway.. Flattery will get cha everywhere with me :o) While it is more difficult for me to have the kind of air and breath control we singers need, the older n fatter I get; I wish I could take the credit for the sound level but, we've changed our road show setup these days and believe it or not there are two guys 50 feet in front of me on the board that deserve all the credit for levels, Aaron and Rocket. But thanks sweety, Michael T.
