In conjunction with "Day on the Hill," AACTE held a briefing that featured Scott Ridley of Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University, Larry Johnson of the University of Cincinnati, Kathy Wright of Hughes STEM High School in Cincinnati, Fabiola Bagula of Balboa Elementary School in San Diego, and Ken Zeichner of the University of Washington. Presenters discussed the research underpinnings supporting strong clinical practice and highlighted successful clinical models in Arizona, California, and Ohio.
"Research over many years in teacher education has indicated the importance of a strong clinical education in preparing teachers in what they need to know and be able to do to enact teaching practices that will have a positive impact on the learning of their students," said Ken Zeichner, Director of Teacher Education at the University of Washington.
