This is a time lapse of a construction site in downtown Toronto, adjacent to where I lived a couple years ago. The beginning of the sequence is early May 2006, and the end is late December 2006.
I filmed it from the corner of my living room with a Canon Rebel XT with a Sigma 55-200mm zoom lens, on a tripod. A laptop controlled everything. There are approximately 7000 frames. You'll notice the picture has a slow "wobble" due to the daily heating and cooling of the carpet that the tripod sat on. If I had known this would happen I would have weighed it down! :)
Several notes of interest:
1) There are actually several distinct construction projects visible in this film: somewhere between 8 and 10, a testament to the intense period of condo development Toronto experienced in this decade.
2) The famous old Molson brewery on the right side of the picture (in red brick) is gradually demolished to make way for, you guessed it, condos.
3) The moon and the stars go by in some of the frames in the middle of the movie. I had to go on vacation at one point so I left the system running during the night for a few days.
4) About halfway through the movie, PCL, the construction company, adorns the righthand building with a special new covering that is part advertisement and part weather protection system. This allows them to continue working comfortably and safely during high winds and cold weather.
5) The colors on the leaves of trees change about 90% of the way in, followed soon after by snow.
When you bought your condo did they advertise you'd have a waterfront view?

@phizooky you bet :) That's how they roll. We moved out and now have a view again (UNTIL... ;) )
