@ChildOfTheSettingSun well, yes, it is pronounced that way. the H sound dropped, unless it was someone's name, then it would be pronounced with the H sound.

Funny that Laura quit teaching anyway after Rose was born. She never complained about being bored after that. Also, in those days, she would not have been allowed to stay on as teacher while pregnant.
