ZHANG:
And, American politics is not only a hot topic in the U.S. In Paris, even taste buds have a say in the race to the White House. Yet the question here on everybody's lips is: Which presidential hamburger tastes better?

STORY:
American presidential burgers are on the menu at an upscale hotel restaurant in Paris.

[Vincent Vitasse, Chef, Concorde Lafayette]:
"This one symbolizes Mr. Obama, and this one, Mr. McCain."

Named for the Marquis de Lafayette, who fought alongside George Washington in the American Revolution, the Concorde Lafayette Hotel has always had a special affinity for the United States, and wanted to mark the election with a French twist on an American classic.

[Herve Dequatre, Diner]:
"I ordered the Obama burger, but not only because I like Obama, but because I liked the ingredients."

Barack Obama fans go for the O'Burger, a Hawaiian-style sandwich that pays tribute to the island state where the Democratic candidate spent most of his youth.

[Vincent Vitasse, Chef, Concorde Lafayette]:
"We used shrimps, pineapples, curry and various herbs. Things that you find in the islands, to represent Obama."

While fans of red-meat Republican candidate John McCain opt for the Elephant Burger, featuring southwest-style ingredients that are popular in McCain's home state of Arizona.

[Jean-Michel Mertz, Diner]:
"It's nice, it goes down well. I ordered it hoping that Sarah [Palin] had prepared it."

[Vincent Vitasse, Chef, Concorde Lafayette]:
"For McCain we chose ingredients that represent his state. We usedTex-Mex ingredients, like guacamole, mildly spicy salsa, grilled lamb."

To reinforce diners' pride in their choices and avoid confusion among servers, the burgers are topped with toothpick flags that feature the logos of the two American parties--a donkey for the Democrats, and an elephant for the Republicans. But the burgers, like the suspense, will end on November 4.
