Here is some more film footage taken right after the Great Miami Hurricane of September 18th, 1926. Most of this footage was shot in and around the Greater Miami area including parts of Miami Beach. This Hurricane was a strong Cat.-4 and was also very severe in the areas of Hollywood and Dania Beach which is just to the North of the Miami area. The highest offical wind gust was 132-MPH recorded on Miami Beach right before the anemometer blew away, so the highest winds most likely reached as high as 150-MPH.

  • They also need to understand why there's a dike that runs all the way around Lk Okeechobee which is the second largest lake in the US.

  • I'm a native born Floridian as I was born in Coral Gables and I've lived in Orlando since I was one. I'm constantly amazed at how some people still think tornados are worse than hurricanes. I say to them that they need to study the hurricanes that moved across Florida and the Keys from 1900-1940

  • Cool vid. I was born during hurricane Dora in 1964. Had a nice 40th birthday with Charlie and the other two, if I make to Eighty ya'll better look out!

  • More incredible shots! Some of the damage shots really shows how violent the winds were.
