  • I completely agree with you! We definitely should support the ensemble - they are great: Huelgas Ensemble with Paul van Nevel. There is the piece of Striggio too on the same CD.

  • What a beautiful version! I was just pondering buying the whole album on Amazon today as spem in alium is the only track you can't download as a separate mp3 track. Thanks. I hadn't heard of Huelgas Ensemble. A very gentle, understated performance as opposed to the horror of a version offered by The King's Singers. Thanks

  • @nemohove: It is the one of the best versions I have ever heard of this incomparably great piece. But buy the album: there is a counterpiece of striggio "ecce beatam lucem" and also so wonderful!

  • This is fucking rad.

  • Bliss

  • Superb, somewhat understated performance, very elegant. Usually sopranos dominate this piece, nice to hear the other ranges so well represented. Yes, there would be no justice if I did not buy the album to support the performers!

Pure hair-raising, spine-tingling transcendence. What a brilliant piece this is!

  • "The Way is basically perfect and all-pervading. How could it be contingent upon practice and realization? The Dharma-vehicle is free and untrammelled. What need is there for concentrated effort? Indeed, the whole body is far beyond the world's dust. Who could believe in a means to brush it clean? It is never apart from one, right where one is." -- Dogen

  • Love this. We once used this in a film we made about traffic cops on the M25. It was over a car tailback through junction 17. This made even that seem somehow poetic x
