South Sudan tribes in deadly battle over cows

The United Nations says at least 600 people have been killed and more than 900 injured in recent inter-tribal clashes in South Sudan.

Much of the violence is the result of cattle rustling in the world's newest country, where cows are valued not only for their food and milk, but also for their part in bride transactions.

As rival tribes compete with each other for water and grazing areas, people often have to flee their villages to escape with their lives.

Al Jazeera's Haru Mutasa reports from Jonglei state.

And what are the many international NGOs do to promote peace between the tribes? Have they ever gotten the idea that probably cattle rustling is not just similar to a bank robbery but rather a way how historical and new politically motivated tribal hatred manifests itself by inflicting damage to the other group, perceived as the "enemy"? And that the cattle are only a means to this end? How else could one explain the burning of huts, the killing of women, old men and children?

@lastwhiteman27 In the human species, a European's genes are more identical to an African's genes living on the other side of the globe than two chimpanzee's who are living in the same forest.

How that's relevant to anything is beyond me. It still doesn't make it moral to treat someone differently simply because of their race.

May want to lose the "common sense" and start studying modern biology which is able to actually make usable, quantifiable predictions.
