A life-long ambition to discover something new in the nightsky realised on March 18 with a 'new star' or supernova in the remote galaxy IC3862 = Arp265 in constellation of Canes Venatices near the 'Plough'. SN captured with my backyard 12" Meade SCT + Starlight Xpress Lodestar-C camera and confirmed as such via the Indian Institute of Astrophysics Bangalore and their 2m RC robotic telescope at 15,000 ft in the Himalayas as SN 2011az type-IIP. 'P' indicates a SN that remains bright for maybe 100days before fading. Even at best the SN is a faint mag 16 star and only visible in very large telescopes.
