if there is great wealth disparity, it causes problems with the havenots. we don't live in a bubble. we live near poor and middle and rich people. there has to be reasonable balance. go and see india. that country is terrible. right below your apartment, you have feces, lots of homeless begging, etc etc. so yes, some social net and care is required if you want to live civilized and not 3rd world. everyone in human society simply cannot work as hard as the next guy or girl in line.
