"Marilyn Monroe Wanted To Be Buried In Pucci" is an exhibiton by Artist Devon Dikeou at Moore College, Jan. 30 Mar. 14, 2009. In her first solo exhibition in Philadelphia, Dikeou, a New York-based installation artist, uses Marilyn Monroes living request to be buried in a dress designed by renown Italian designer Emilio Pucci as the lens through which to reconsider various developments in art and design since the 1960s, particularly as they relate to the social, urban and popular cultural contexts. The exhibition is comprised of various objects of art, artifacts and design that refer to the romance between baseball great Joe DiMaggio and Hollywood starlet Marilyn Monroe including a version of the original eternity band DiMaggio gave Monroe. Tiffany & Co. has provided a version of the DiMaggio-Monroe platinum eternity band for viewers to touch or try on during the reception on January 29 affecting the spirit of this iconic American romance.
