Installed a password-encrypted flash drive inside Apple's mighty mouse

I carry around my usb mouse and flash drive so why not combine them and password encrypt the flash drive? I've also shorten the wire because I feel I don't need such a long wire when I use it on my laptops.

  • Hey man, great job on the mouse, I have a question though.... How did you wire the actual flash drive to the USB Port on the mouse? I would figure you would need 2 USB Ports, what pins does the mouse use and the flash drive use? Thanks -Sibobby1

  • The cable from the laptop is wired to a usb hub and the mouse and flash drive are then wired to the hub. Hope that answers your question.

  • But still, doesn't the mouse need to use all of the pins for the USB Male connector, and doesn't the flash drive need all of the pins for it to function... I know like on Fat PSPs how you can sodler the wire from the first pin to the white connector for USB Charging, it was unused, what did you do for this one?

    thanks for the response

    -Sibobby1 :]

  • Yes, you need to power the unit usint +/- and it has to use the twisted pairs.

  • same as me too!

  • you got the same comp as me :D

  • omg the mouse is a flash drive too

  • Great hack! Any chance you'll be posting more detailed instructions/photos anywhere?

  • Thanks man, great job with the project. Always see great stuff from you, keep it up :P Considering doing LED mod for my PSP, not sure if I should do Soundboard or Direct Contact.... And my power fuse broke, I don't want to bridge it incase of power surge, I want to do USB Charge mod, and go to the let pin (to battery terminal) to charge, but every time I close up the case it doesn't work...
