  • Hiya. Paul Varley was born in Preston, Lancashire, England in 1949. Yes, he was the only English member. (Alan was American and Jake was born in Israel, but lived most of of his life in the USA and UK). Paul had a long -term relationship with Mark Bolan's ex-wife and has a daughter. He died in July 2008 of pneumonia and his funeral was held in his hometown of Preston, Lancashire, England. Hope that helps.

  • so sorry to hear that did you know how he passed away. I think he was also the only English memeber of the band was that true. thanks for letting me know.

  • Hiya. No Alan Merrill hasn't passed away. In fact, he is still performing as a solo artist. It was Paul Varley, the Arrow's drummer who passed away in 2008.

  • I heard that one of them passed away recently it wasnt the lead singer was it? thanks,
