Morbid obesity is not genetic and is actually biologically unnecessary so why would a human body code for morbid obesity when the usually means death for that individual. It doesn't make sense. Genetically, some people are fatter than others, but not MORBIDLY OBESE! I have a degree in biology and have researched this. I could write a novel over this! lol.

Bottom line: Morbid obesity is not genetic; however, it is a disorder. They need to suck it up and pay for an extra seat.

How about reducing the number of seats so that people are more comfortable? I am 5'11" / 174lbs, and STILL I barely fit in those seats. They want to make overweight people buy two seats, but how about those parents who bring on board annoying screaming and crying babies? One overweight person can be a problem to ONE person who's sitting next to him/her. One crying baby is a problem to HALF the people on board; they should pay extra too, for making my flight VERY unpleasant.

I come from a TALL family and I wouldn't mind paying a modest amount more for a seat where my knees weren't jammed up under my chin. A flight from Sydney to Madison would cost me an extra $12,000 for the upgrade to business. I just want room for my knees. If I were fat I'd probably be fine with a modest increase for my width. It isn't any more comfortable for the fat person being wedged in.

I've yet to hear 1 single fat/obese person say "I eat too much and I will not exercise."
Medically, it is less than 2% of overweight people that have a direct medical cause for their being overweight. Their claim is universally "genetic". BULL!
