  • thank you for your video. I have been living with gp for over 2 years and just got the diagnosis of neuropathic pseudo-obstruction as well, i will be starting octreotide in 2 weeks. we have the same doctors and that is how i found you. this was so helpful, i am a bit nervous about the injections. have you gotten relief from this treatment? i did notice you have been living with the condition for about the same amount of time as myself. thanks again :)

  • @jenlynz1970 @jenlynz1970 You are welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful. I was diagnosed with GP about 3.5 years ago. I've been taking the Octreotide for over 3 years now (which means over 1000 injections!) I was really nervous at first, but you get used to it, rust me. I have definitely found the Octreotide to be helpful. Feel free to message me if you have any further questions! :)

  • @n4bjb Thank you, I'm really glad you found it helpful! I hope your illness gets diagnosed soon. Have you been to see a GI motility specialist?

  • hi i am suppossed to give myself this everynight and have not actually started yet my neurogastromotiliy facility informed my im to inject into the stomach are do you know anything about this? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING, BTW The use for my case is neuro pseudo obstruction and gastropherisis Any info appriciated thank u

  • @411heythere Sure, I'd be happy to talk to you about this, feel free to pm me. I also have GP and neurodegenerative pseudo-obstruction, and I've been taking this medication for it for 2.5 years.

  • @bumblybee have to inject it into my stomach everynight? thanks

  • @411heythere Am I correct in thinking your neurogastroenterologist is Dr. Snape in SF? (That's my doctor, too!)

What would you like to know?

You should probably actually rotate your injection sites to avoid the build-up of scar tissue--the best places to do a sub-Q injection is on your thighs, stomach, and upper arms.

  • I also do octreotide injections. i dont recommend blowing on the site as that desterilizes where you just wiped. I was also taught to wipe off the top of the rubber vial.octreotide isn't supposed to help stomach MMCs to occur but who knows! i take it for dysmotility in my small bowel. good job doing it I know it hurts and I only do half a dose of what you're doing, for now

  • It's annoying my doses are in glass ampules instead of vials from my pharmacy, with insulin syringes... and no way of using a filtered needle to draw the med' before injection. I think I'm getting used to the whole idea of giving myself injections compared to giving sticks to others though. Still no diagnosis, but I have an appt. on the 13th with my GI doc' to probably see how Octreotide is working for me, so we'll see what happens. Thanks again M~ from B~...

  • Amazing to think I've given sticks to people for over 10 years on the job, and suddenly I have to give myself injections of the same med' you have to take for a still undiagnosed GI issue I'm having. Just giving myself the first one was the hardest. Just took my second dose trying the leg instead of the ab's. Thanks for posting this. Anyone who may have to give themselves an injection will find it comforting I think.

  • very informative and very well explained :)

  • @bumblybee omg YES! im going to send you a message private thanks
