There is no expensive plugins needed here, just an audio wave editor that can be found in many DAW's. Here are some examples of the reverse effect. There are some samples you have heard and some you have not. This is part 1 of a 2 part video.

  • these drum tracks do sound a lot better but, i think you should clarify in the recordings drums video that what people are hearing are just the drums before any compression, eqing, or mastering.
