Charted at #9 on Billboard Hot 100 in January 1961, and #25 on Billboard R&B chart. The melody is "Vesti La Giubba" from the opera, "I Pagliacci".

  • @PutOnASweater - Thank you for the information - indeed, Mr Jacobs did a masterful job on this wonderful song. Merry Christmas & God bless you & yours ...

  • @1400deadwood Orchestra by Dick Jacobs who did most of the arrangements and productions for Jackie's recordings...with some exceptions until 1966. Jacobs was one of the top arranger/conductor's for Decca and it's related companies and worked with artists such as: The Ames Bros. Steve Lawrence, MacGuire Sisters, Buddy Holly, Teresa Brewer and so many more. He was one of the few supporters of Rock & Roll in it's early phase when it was not "fashionable" with the major record labels.

  • What is the orchestra and who was producer of this great song? Not only was it sung beautifully, the orchestration in it is unmatchable. Jackie may have been one of the greatest performers of all time. Never to be forgotten.

  • Haven't heard this gem in MANY moons. I was thinking of it the other day and am glad to view it here.

    Thanks for posting.
