Yep 20 years ago East Germany was opened up to Turkish colonization...oh what joy.

The ironic thing is the most rapidly growing party in Germany right now is Die Linke which are basically neo-commies.

And as usual almost no German flags because real national pride is illegal in Germany.

This is hands down the most pathetic country in the world today...maybe not economically -- yet -- but certainly morally.

National pride sucks? Germany seems to be the only country that thinks so.

Internet has nothing to do with it, I lived there for 2 years. I saw the Turks and Russians rooting for their own countries over Germany during the European Cup, taking over the streets with their national flags.

Most other countries would not tolerate this level of disrespect from their "guests." But Germany loves to hate itself (also why the German media talks about the Holocaust 7 days a week.)

But I have no fight to pick with Germans -- it's not my country and it's up to them to change it.

If Obama had gone he would have been critisised. If he hadn't gone he'd have been critisised. It's ridiculous even speculating on the issue! I think the US played it right by sending their current Sec'y of State and also Bush 41- who was in power in the US at the time. If were gonna over-analyse the 'issue', why not just climb up our own arses and take a peek into our rectums ;-)
