  • @OneKindTwoMinds french critics didn't pan it, in case you didn't know it was nominated for the palm. trier was depressed when he wrote it so it ought to be dark, but i think any vision of life so beautifully presented should be at least respected.

  • @OneKindTwoMinds not every good film is supposed to be culturally significant. the ejaculation of blood isn't what's presented, it's used to present something else, and that's the main problem with people who hated the film: they didn't get it. that doesn't make them stupid, they just didn't want to get it. however even the people who didn't like it can't deny the strength of the performances or the beauty of the cinematography, which make this film beautiful be it your cup of tea or not.

  • @Xiouslaidyn Whilst trying to appear intellectual you have called the creator an idiot and made several statements which are deterministic and reductionist as well. Yours is an opinion which would better be received in a public forum dedicated to film, not youtube. You may not agree or like Lars Von Trier but he had a vision and created it.

  • oh ya i caught this movie. the description read, a couple loses their baby and go out to the woods to relax where odd things happen. well paraphrased but it did use odd things happen to describe genital mutilation. seriously i was like what the? OH SHIT!! NOOOO!!! WWTTTTFFFF!!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!!! after 20 minutes of that i was like KILL THAT BITCH!!! BLUDGEON HER WITH THAT WRENCH!!! WHY IS SHE STILL ALIVE!!! PUT DOWN THE SCISSORS!! NOOOO!!!! YES!!! FINALLY!!! what the shit took so long!?!

  • @Xiouslaidyn Very comforting to see I'm not alone here :) I agree 100% with everything you wrote, and I was actually trying my best (but probably not succeeding as you did) at saying more or less the same.

  • @kortexsirvasil the lack of control in the lives of man these days is a result of the chaos that is the result of our choices. Chaos is like a wave, and it can carry people along its course. But we can choose to make the effort to swim outside of the wave, along a different course. It would take effort, but it is our choice. Reality as we know it becomes as we think it. Because everyone perceives reality differently, there is chaos. Chaos is not evil. It is a just a force, like nature.

  • @kortexsirvasil That Millennia of female oppression you spoke of, the ENTIRE CONCEPT of an accepted ethnicity, ALL of the billions who suffer in the world. ALL of it was wrought by the mind and mentality of the mass of humanity. Nature, the universe, god, satan or whatever had nothing to do with it. There was NO OUTSIDE source. The countless gazillions of choices made every day by human beings throughout recorded time are the sole contributing factor. There is bad because WE MADE IT LIKE THAT.

  • @kortexsirvasil because there is no conclusion. I'm sure The Idiot (lars) would tell you that himself. The "dark side" is within his mind, other minds, probably your mind. It is a manufactured aspect of reality, man-made. Evil didn't exist until man thought of it and than created it. That's a frightening aspect of being self-aware beings. We have to ability to live within the nature of the world, but also to create our own nature. And individuality makes more diversity in that regard.

  • @fescolfaro I should also concur with you on your point regarding the film's cinematography. Some of the visual impressions are very well done and appealing.

  • @fescolfaro if I could give you more than one thumbs up, I would. I completely agree. Those who find beauty within this film's displays surely have a similar "existential void" that they characterize within their own everyday reality. it conveys nothing substantial or intellectual from an objective standpoint, but definitely shows well the world as the delusional author sees it. Lots of delusional, sick-minded folks out there can identify with it, though, I'm sure.
