My iPhone 4 home button suffers a problem where it clicks without being pressed. Doesn't do it all the time, but gets like this at least once a day. The Apple Store "genii" (who, by the way, are wicked bad at customer service) refuse to believe me, so I filmed it for proof using another iPhone 4 - hence the post-boxing of the video. I treat this phone like my baby, and had to sell my bike to buy one - I'd expect better quality...

2.Plug in the usb cable and connect it to the pc

    3. Start up you phone ........

Worked for me :) let us know if it works for u?

  • @saturndjsdublin Hi! This didn't work for me. You're looking at a hardware problem right there. The home button was kind of loose. It wasn't that it wasn't responding, it's just that it was really loose and sort of clicking twice. I had to video it to prove it to the "genius" at the bar, who replaced it for me.

    Thanks for posting, anyway!

  • does anyone know what's the cause of this problem? i've had my iphone 4 for almost 2 months now and for those 2 months i didn't have the "creaking" problem. It just suddenly happened. One second ago it was fine and suddenly my home button became like this. It's really bugging me to the point that i slammed my phone against my desk. I have an OCD regarding these thing and i want to know what's the cause of this problem..

  • @superjuniorsuper I know exactly how you feel. After all, we're paying an arse and a leg for a "quality build" right?! Idiot at the genius bar the first time round said he couldn't see a problem. When I said that I would film it and play it back he said that he doubted it could ever be picked up on film!

Anyway, I did film it (on another iPhone, incidentally) and they could hear it. Prompt replacement after that. Phew! New one does it every now and again, but not nearly as bad.

  • Everyone, mind you this is a HARDWARE problem. Exactly as shown in the video. My phone was in for repair after 10 months... I couldn't stand this shit anymore. The Carrier company replaced it's inners the first time I sent it in, solved the problem but I got it back with a "dancing" home button and it also felt a bit too sunk in. I sent it in again, pointing out the issues of the first time and THEN! I finally got a proper new or refurbished phone! So far no problems.

  • thank you so much it works! hoping it will not happened again...

  • Had the same ting, Apple told me to f*ck off cause this was "normal"

  • i just reupdated mine

  • can it be fixed?

  • HHahahHaaa gal

  • From what I've read, a lot of people have had the same problem with their iPhone 4 since iOS 4.1. Mine is doing exactly the same thing!

  • Try holding on to the power button, till u see slide to power off. Now release power button and press the home button at the pressure you would use on the home button. It should change to the icon springboard screen( with all the icons). It should work properly after that.

Took the advice from another discussion which i was trying to find. But try it anyway it worked for me. I suspect mine is a sofeware issue that made it seem like a hardware issue.

Try before sending it for repairs or replac
