Great Britain= A geographical term for the largest of the many British Isles.
yanks can never get that right, the UK was formed in 1707 with the unification act between England and Scotland, England having already conquered Wales. Northern Ireland is the 6 counties that the UK still hold on Ireland, the other 26 being in the Republic of Ireland.

@xanderdoe The United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Britain is England, Scotland and Wales. Britain is an island. The United Kingdom is a treaty.
